Nommon Solutions and Technologies

Nommon is a research-intensive technology company that provides decision support tools and consulting services for organisational intelligence and policy assessment. For this purpose, Nommon integrates supporting databases with analytical and simulation models that make use of a variety of mathematical tools, from data mining or operations research, to the most recent and innovative methods from complex systems science. Nommon is particularly active in the field of transport research. Our research agenda encompasses three main threads: (i) big data processing and spatio-temporal data analysis; (ii) complex systems modelling and data-driven simulation; and (iii) information visualisation and visual analytics.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) is the Fraunhofer Society’s "data institute" and one of the most renowned research institutions in the data science area, with an extremely strong track record in data mining, machine learning, visual analytics, semantic technologies, information retrieval and software engineering. In addition to its strong position in research, IAIS has an outstanding track record in exploitation and transfer of research results.

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM) is the oldest and largest Spanish technical university, with more than 4.000 faculty members, around 38,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 postgraduates in 21 schools, 200 research units and 10 research institutes and technological centres covering most of engineering disciplines. UPM has participated in more than 140 European R&D projects during FP7. UPM participates in the project through the Virtual Reality group at CeDInt (CeDInt-VR). The group works on two main areas: 1) information visualisation and visual analytics, and 2) virtual, augmented and mixed reality. The research on information visualisation and visual analytics focuses on the development of methods and tools for the exploration of multifaceted data and the (comparative) assessment of multidimensional scenarios in the perspective of supporting decision making processes. The convergence of visual analytics with virtual and augmented reality technologies is also at the core of CeDInt-VR research interests.
